#35: The Tallest Point in Cuba
Pico Turquino, rising from the rugged Sierra Maestra range in southeastern Cuba, holds the title of the island’s highest peak. Located in the Guamá region of Santiago de Cuba Province, this remote, forested mountain reaches an elevation that made it symbolically powerful during the Cuban Revolution.

In 1957, Fidel Castro and his rebel fighters ascended to the summit, imbuing it with what they described as “almost magical meaning.” Today, the peak lies within Pico Turquino National Park, surrounded by dense tropical vegetation and steep terrain.
